The purpose of the Vent-A-Throne is to eliminate odors, toxic fumes, airborne bacteria and germs emitted during and after defecating or urinating in a toilet. One unique feature is the ability to capture odors and germs close to the source before they can escape into the surrounding area. This is accomplished by a vacuum manifold that mounts under and to the rear of the toilet seat. The vacuum manifold has an air inlet designed to draw air up from the bottom. The manifold is connected to a small low voltage fan that is mounted below and to the left or right side of the toilet. The fan is connected through PVC to a sulfur activated charcoal filter. When installation permits simply drill a 1-3/8 hole in the floor to exit the fumes into the crawl space under the house, though the wall to the out side air or into an existing wall near the toilet. With this method there is no need to use the sulfur activated filter. The fan is generally wired to a fan switch on the wall, or in conjunction with the bathroom light switch. To eliminate the possibility of electric shock the fan is a 12 volt brushless design that takes less than one amp to operate and draws 23 CFM of air.  DC current to the fan is produced with the use of a small transformer mounted in the light/fan switch box, or above the existing fan mounted in the ceiling. When in operation the odor is drawn through the vacuum manifold, into and through the filter or out side of the bathroom. The device is designed to retro fit any standard toilet by home owners in as little as 1 hour. 

     Most all standard bathroom vent fans are located it the ceiling. This means the all the noxious fumes and airborne bacteria from the toilet are drawn directly from the source , past the person responsible, past any inisonate by standers, filling the entire room before escaping through the fan located many feet away form the source. This process can take as long as 30 minutes with each use and will never clear with continuous use, as everyone has witnessed in multi stall public restrooms. The Vent-A-Throne completely eliminates all odors immediately no matter how often the toilet is used or how many people use it.
